Experience
Mr. Giles practices primarily in the areas of maritime law
and business litigation. He has represented clients before various Federal and
State courts, the Federal Maritime Commission, the Office of Administrative
Hearings in Maryland, and before the U.S. Coast Guard.
He has experience
handling virtually every kind of maritime dispute, including, but not limited
to, cargo claims, arrest and attachment proceedings, limitation of liability
proceedings, marine death and personal injury claims, collision and allision
cases, claims involving toxic substances, salvage claims, marine insurance
claims, suits involving breaches of maritime contracts and charter parties,
marine products liability claims, license suspension and revocation proceedings,
recreational boating claims, and vessel excise tax claims.
In addition to his
maritime practice, Mr. Giles also has handled various business litigation
matters including, but not limited to, contract disputes, fraud and fraudulent
conveyance claims, representation of creditors in bankruptcy proceedings, and
legal malpractice cases.
